The ABC's Of Kindergarten  

Standard 5a. Aligns classroom assessment with instruction.

Justification:   This is a developmental writing grid that is used in the back of kindergarten draft books to provide a framework for evaluating the progress of the student's writing through the typical progression of writing skills in kindergarten.  Each month, I use it to take a closer look at the student's writing and see how they are progressing.

Unidentifiable Scribble Writing Imitates writing, Recognizable picture, tells about Picture attempts to read it back, letter-like forms or letter-strings, occasional known word some letter to sound match, beginning letters, left to right writing Beginning and ending sounds, high frequency words, includes some vowels many high frequency words, uses vowels in most sentences, punctuation beginning,  larger vocab, more complex sentence structure, punctuation used correctly, spaces words.
